Tyre pressure monitoring system

Introduction

If the vehicle is equipped with the function, this system monitors the tyre pressure.
Depending on the vehicle, the system is identifiable when the tyre reset procedure is available:
  • on the instrument panel from the "Vehicle" tab with the presence of the "Tyre Pressure" page or, depending on the vehicle, "Tyre pressure init. long press";
or
  • from the multimedia screen on the "Tyre pressure" tab.
WARNING
This function is an additional driving aid.
The function does not take the place of the driver. It cannot, therefore, under any circumstances replace the vigilance or the responsibility of the driver.
Check the tyre pressures once a month.

Operating principle

Each wheel has a sensor in the inflation valve which periodically measures the tyre pressure.
The system displays a warning on the instrument panel 1 to alert the driver in the event of insufficient pressure.
In the event of insufficient tyre pressure (deflation, puncture etc.), the warning light is continuously displayed. Depending on the vehicle, it also displays the current tyre pressure values on the instrument panel.
WARNING
For your own safety, the warning light requires you to stop immediately, as soon as traffic conditions allow.

Procedure for resetting the standard levels for the tyre pressures

This should be performed:
  • after changing a wheel;
  • when the standard tyre pressure needs to be changed to adapt to usage conditions (empty, carrying a load, motorway driving, etc.);
  • after swapping wheels .
Resetting should always be carried out after checking the tyre pressure of all four tyres when cold.
Tyre pressures must correspond to the current usage of the vehicle (empty, carrying a load, motorway driving, etc.). Observe inflation pressures. Check them at least once a month and before a long journey (refer to the label on the edge of the driver’s door TYRE PRESSURE).

Resetting procedure from the instrument panel 1

Ignition on, vehicle stopped:
  • repeatedly press the switch upwards/downwards 2 as many times as necessary to reach the "" tab « Tyre Pressure »;
  • press downwards and hold (around 3 seconds) the 2 switch to start the reset.
The "Learning Tyre Pressures" message is displayed with, depending on the vehicle, the flashing of the tyres on the instrument panel. This confirms that the tyre pressure reference value reset request has been taken into account. Reset can take several minutes of driving.
Note:
  • when the reset is taken into account, there is no need to wait for the procedure to end in order to drive. Depending on the vehicle, the tyre pressure values will be displayed on the instrument panel;
  • The standard tyre pressure cannot be less than that recommended and indicated on the door frame.

Resetting procedure via the multimedia screen 3

Please refer to the multimedia instructions for further information.
Tip
If your vehicle is fitted with a navigation system, you can also perform a reset from the multimedia screen. Refer to the handbook for the equipment.

Messages

The table shows the possible messages related to the tyre resetting procedure.

1

With the ignition on and the vehicle stationary, to start resetting the pressure of all four tyres, press downwards and hold the switch 2.

Learning Tyre Pressures
The "---" symbols in front of each wheel will flash to indicate that the system has registered the tyre pressure reset for all four wheels.
3

The "---" symbols in front of each wheel will remain lit. This system resets the tyre pressure of all four tyres. You can now drive.
Note: during the reset, tyre pressure monitoring remains in operation.
4

The pressure value of the four tyres is displayed: the resetting procedure is complete and successful.

Readjustment of tyre pressures

The pressure of the four tyres must be set when cold (refer to the label located on the edge of the driver's door).
If the tyre pressures cannot be checked when they are cold, the recommended pressures should be increased by 0.2 to 0.3 bar (3 PSI).
Never deflate a hot tyre.

Replacing wheels/tyres

This system requires specific equipment (wheels, tyres, hubcaps, etc.) .
Contact an approved dealer to replace the tyres and to find out about accessories compatible with the system that are available from the brand's Network: using any other accessory could affect the correct operation of the system.
WARNING
Changing a wheel
The system may take several minutes depending on use for the new wheel positions and pressures to be recognised; check the tyre pressures after all operations.

Tyre repair product and inflation kit

Only use equipment approved by the brand network, otherwise there is risk of the system being activated late or not working correctly TYRE INFLATION KIT.
After using the tyre inflation kit, readjust the tyre pressure and launch the resetting of the tyre pressure reference value.

Tyre pressure faults

If the system detects a tyre pressure fault, a warning message appears on the instrument panel 1.

Warning messages

The table includes the alert messages displayed on the instrument panel when the system detects possible inflation problems (deflated wheel, punctured wheel, etc.).
For your own safety, the warning light requires you to stop immediately, as soon as traffic conditions allow.

Adjust Tyre Pressure
This indicates that tyre under-inflation has been detected. Depending on the vehicle, the wheel and the associated pressure value are displayed in yellow on the instrument panel. Check and adjust the pressure of all four tyres when cold. The warnings disappear on the instrument panel after a few minutes of driving.

Puncture
This indicates that the tyre concerned is punctured or severely underinflated. Depending on the vehicle, the wheel and the associated pressure value are displayed in red on the instrument panel. Adjust the pressure of the four tyres while cold if the tyre is deflated. The warnings disappear on the instrument panel after a few minutes of driving. If the tyre is punctured, replace it or have it replaced and then reset the system.

Check Tyre Pressure Sensors
This indicates that at least one wheel is not fitted with a sensor or that the sensor is faulty. Depending on the vehicle, the wheel is no longer indicated on the instrument panel. Consult an approved Dealer.
comes on (not flashing).

This indicates that the system has not been able to determine the pressure of each tyre. This may be caused by the use of a sensor not recommended by an approved dealer. The tyre pressure sensor monitoring system remains in operation.
